Meet The Team
Bill graduated from Glasgow University in 1983 with a Bachelor in Accountancy. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, having qualified in 1986 with KPMG, where he began his career in 1983. He worked in general practice and later in the Corporate Finance department, specialising in advising small companies on raising capital.
In 1988 Bill moved to Invesco where he worked in the Venture Capital department. As an investment manager, he was responsible for making venture capital investments involving the use of loan note and preferred capital instruments and the ongoing monitoring of these investments. Bill joined F&C Asset Management plc ("F&C") in 1993 as part of the Private Equity business within Freinds Ivory and Sime plc. He launched the seminal AiM Trust in 1996 and 3PC Investment Trust PLC in 2001, both of which were merged in 2003 to form Active Capital Trust plc, of which he continued as the manager. He was Head of the pan-European small cap team prior to leaving F&C to form Bluehone Investors LLP in 2005. Bill is a former chair of the AiM Advisory Group of the London Stock Exchange and is chairman of Aortech PLC.
Robert graduated from Buckingham University in 1987 with a BSc (Hons) Economics. In 1995 he obtained an MBA from Exeter University.
After a seven year grounding in smaller public company analysis and investment at Framlington Investment Management Robert joined F&C (formerly ISIS Asset Management plc) in 1995 to help launch the AiM Trust and then assist in its management. He was then responsible for launching and managing The AiM VCT plc and AiM VCT2 plc as well as managing The Discovery Trust plc. In 2005 Robert left F&C to form Bluehone Investors LLP. Robert is a non-executive director of Water Intelligence PLC.
Duncan is the Managing Partner and founder of our affiliate business Composearch LLP.
In 2014 he joined Bluehone as a senior advisor and is one of four senior partners responsible for the businesses day to day operations.
His role within the business is to actively grow our client base of early stage companies seeking equity investment and other capital solutions for targeted growth. He has extensive access to a network of investors that range from global private equity practices to locally based professional investors.
In addition he covers hospitality and leisure within our real estate function and has facilitated a number of significant Hotel related transactions over the last few years. Composearch has particular access to ‘off market’ real estate opportunities that covers debt, refinancing, acquisition and disposals on a discreet basis.
Prior to corporate finance Duncan worked in executive search for 15 years latterly at Odgers Berndtson a leading global firm in the sector. Here he headed the Equity Practice that covered Investment Banks, Equity brokers and Hedge Funds. Outside work he spends most of his time with his family either at home in Hampshire, on the ski slopes in Europe or on the beaches of Cornwall in the summer!
After an early career in merchant banking in London and New York Jamie became one of the founding members of Jefferies International in London and worked for 22 years at the bank. As well as heading its convertibles team he also served on the international Board for 16 years. He retired from Jefferies in 2012 and has since consulted at ISM Capital prior to joining Bluehone as a Senior Advisor in 2015.
Jamie specialises in introducing institutional capital to property developers and is particularly focussed on the student housing and hospitality sectors. He also advises, invests and helps source for smaller companies.
